Winter (November to March) can be cold, especially in mountainous areas, where temperatures may drop below freezing, and snow is common in the higher altitudes. Even on cooler days, the sun can be quite strong, so it’s important to bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and other items to protect yourself from the sun.

In Armenia and Georgia, the dress code is generally casual, but it’s important to dress modestly, especially when visiting religious sites such as churches and monasteries. For these visits, both men and women are advised to wear clothing that covers the shoulders and knees. Women may be asked to wear a scarf to cover their heads when entering some religious buildings. Comfortable, weather- appropriate clothing is recommended for sightseeing and outdoor activities. It’s important to bring layers, as temperatures can vary, especially in higher altitudes. Don’t forget to pack sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses, as the sun can be strong even when temperatures are cooler. For evening outings or dinners in high-end restaurants, a smart-casual attire is suitable.
Power plugs
In both Armenia and Georgia, the standard voltage is 220V, and the frequency is 50Hz. The power plugs used are typically of Type C and Type F – the two-pronged round plugs commonly found in Europe. If your devices use a different plug type or operate on a different voltage, it’s recommended to bring a plug adapter and, if necessary, a voltage converter. All the hotels also provide adapters upon request, but it’s always best to have your own to ensure you can charge your electronics without any hassle during your trip.
Medical Assistance
Please contact your tour leader immediately, regardless of the hour, if you have any health issues. The tour leader will provide first aid if necessary or arrange a visit to a pharmacy or hospital. Some pharmacies and hospitals are open 24 hours in Yerevan and Tbilisi.
As you may not be accustomed to local food and water, it is recommended to bring or take medications that help prevent gastrointestinal disorders, especially if you have a sensitive stomach.
Travel insurance covering medical emergencies, including evacuation, is highly recommended, as some remote areas may have limited access to healthcare.
Insurance
For U.S. travelers joining a tour to Armenia and Georgia, it is strongly recommended to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellations, lost baggage, and other potential travel disruptions. While travel insurance is not mandatory to join the tour, it is essential for your peace of mind and safety during the trip. Insurance should include coverage for medical treatment, emergency evacuation, and repatriation, since access to medical care may be restricted in some rural regions. We advise you to carefully review your policy to ensure it meets the specific needs of your journey. Having proper insurance will ensure you are well- protected in case of any unforeseen circumstances.
Internet
In both Armenia and Georgia, internet access is generally good, especially in major cities like Yerevan and Tbilisi. Most hotels, cafes, and restaurants offer free Wi-Fi, and mobile data is widely available through local SIM cards, which can be easily purchased upon arrival.
For tourists, internet speeds are typically sufficient for browsing, social media, and email. However, in more remote areas, the internet connection may be slower or less reliable.
